To state that the
OMTCP is the only online management training program for the bowling industry is enough to state it is a unique program. However, it is the program's features which make it truly unique and valuable:
- Capstone Projects and Labs – Throughout the program, students will be required to participate in Capstone Projects or Labs. These assignments are hands-on demonstrations of learned materials. For example, once a student has learned how to develop a strategic marketing plan, they will be required to create such a marketing plan for their center. This project will then be reviewed and graded to determine if the material was retained and if the student has attained the knowledge necessary to be certified. However, the true value of this project is not in the demonstration of knowledge but in the implementation. Once the project has been graded, it will be returned to the center where it can then be implemented.
- Real People, Real Stories – Throughout the program, we have incorporated video segments where proprietors share an experience related to that of the material being taught. This allows for the student to not only understand the theory behind the text but to also see how it looks in a “real-life” setting. This gives students the opportunity to learn from both the experts who developed our materials as well as the proprietors and managers who are out there practicing it today.
- Case Studies – Throughout the program, students will be required to participate in case studies where they examine a situation that occurred at a center. They can make a decision about how they would have dealt with the situation, then learn what was actually done and what resulted. This again gives students the opportunity to learn both the theory of material as well as examine it in practice.
- Student to Student Communication – Classrooms are formed in groups of approximately 20 students each. As students progress through their classes, they will be able to directly communicate with their fellow classmates through message boards and a private messaging system. On several occasions in the program, students will be asked to write about a time or experience they have had related to a topic. They will then be asked to share this experience with their classmates, thus promoting growth through information sharing.
- Student Instructor Interaction – Once enrolled in a course, students will have the ability to communicate directly with program administrators and instructors. If at any time a student has questions or issues with program performance, there is someone ready to help them resolve the issue. In capstone assignments, each student is assigned an instructor or mentor who will work one-on-one with them to answer any questions they may have and help them develop their final assignment so it is of the highest quality and ready to implement.
